> [!Abstract] TL;DR
> A personal UI revamp concept for SensCritique profile pages (desktop + mobile), focused on restoring visual hierarchy and bringing back media-type colors.
# **Context**
> [!note]
> ### **Problem statement**
>
> In early 2022, [SensCritique](https://www.senscritique.com/live) shipped a UI update that degraded the desktop experience for me: the information hierarchy felt flatter and color usage was toned down—especially the colors used to distinguish media types (movies, music, books, etc.).
>
> I used this as an opportunity to explore my own revamp, focusing primarily on user profiles. A secondary goal was to practice the (then) new Auto Layout improvements in Figma—even if the file now feels clearly outdated.
>
> This project explores a more expressive, desktop-efficient UI that makes previously important elements re-emerge while staying close to SensCritique’s visual language.
### In scope
**🧑 Personal project -⏳ 1 week of part-time work**
- Usability / clarity
- User activity and social interactions (reactions and activities) have a dedicated place in the UI and are easily accessible.
- “Bio”-type info is placed at the top, so you quickly understand the user’s universe and taste.
- No massive identity shift compared to the current or previous SensCritique.
- Media-type colors are back.
- Deliverables
- A public Figma file with:
- An exhaustive **profile page with all modules**
- Variations on layout and theme
- Desktop / Mobile
- Light / Dark
- A tidy set of screens (before/after comparisons) that demonstrate the changes
- Auto Layout usage with minimal manual positioning (predictable behavior with long usernames, empty modules, and large lists)
### Out of scope
- Full design system rebuild (tokens, full component library, exhaustive states)
- End-to-end UX research with users, analytics access, or usability testing sessions
- No internal SensCritique data, no roadmap, no dev team collaboration, no usage metrics: the work is based on public observation + personal UX judgment
- Other product areas (search, home feed, content pages, onboarding)

Mobile before / after
- I clearly went overboard with banner images that cover the whole top part of the page. It is obviously a bad idea, but just hilarious at this point. What was I thinking?
- At the time, I did not use components or variables (they were not out yet), and it could have enabled me to make things cleaner across variations.
- There is some poor contrast, and overall interactions are poorly highlighted or surfaced. I should have been less conservative in some aspects and bolder in others regarding the SensCritique team’s design.
- I think the current UI of SensCritique is in a better state overall, even if the hierarchy and spacing choices still baffle me. I just like their new font and header; it feels more polished than before. It is not where I would like it to be, for sure, but it is not as bad. With a dedicated mobile app now, I hope “it’s become worth because of the mobile version” will stop being thing.

Je voulais notamment mettre en avant les couleurs des différents univers (films, jeux vidéo, BD, livres, albums...) et conserver un "aside" sur la version bureau, des choses mises de côté dans la dernière refonte du site.
